Overview

Cone & Graham, Inc. was tasked with the critical Anchorage Park Bulk Head Wall Replacement project for the Village of North Palm Beach, a comprehensive overhaul aimed at modernizing the marina’s infrastructure while ensuring safe, uninterrupted access to the public boat ramp at the heart of the site. The project involved the removal and replacement of significant structural elements, showcasing Cone & Graham’s expertise in managing complex marine construction projects within tight deadlines.

A key component of the project was the removal of 9 fixed timber finger piers and 2 floating finger piers, which had aged and were no longer suitable for modern use. Additionally, the project involved the complete removal of 9 shore power pedestals with water spigots, which were carefully dismantled to make way for updated infrastructure. To enhance the marina's structural integrity, approximately 300 linear feet of steel sheet pile and 180 linear feet of concrete batter pile seawall were removed and disposed of as part of the process.

The installation phase involved significant structural work, including the placement of 53 pre-stressed concrete piles measuring 14 inches square and 37 feet long, alongside 18 piles measuring 18 inches square and 40 feet long. Additionally, approximately 4,400 square feet of 9-inch thick precast concrete sheet piles were fabricated and installed, reinforcing the bulkhead's durability. To anchor the structure, 44 precast concrete dead-man anchors, each measuring 4 feet by 4 feet, were installed with 26-foot-long tieback rods for additional stability. The final element of the project included the construction of a 370-linear-foot concrete cap, ensuring long-term protection against erosion and water damage.

The project’s timeline was tight, requiring all work to be completed within 120 calendar days. Despite this challenge, Cone & Graham prioritized maintaining public safety and access to the boat ramp during construction, implementing effective safety protocols to minimize disruption to the community.

This bulkhead wall replacement project exemplifies Cone & Graham’s ability to manage technically demanding marine infrastructure work, ensuring structural longevity while delivering on schedule and maintaining public safety throughout the process.
