WORK
Cone & Graham, Inc. contributed to a comprehensive design-build project involving 12 miles of resurfacing and the installation of 4 miles of median guardrail along I-95, a critical corridor for Florida’s east coast. The project also included widening the southbound exit ramp to Malabar Road, featuring a new mast arm and overhead sign truss for improved traffic management and safety.
As part of a larger initiative to enhance traffic flow along I-95, this $51 million project addressed congestion issues in Brevard County by expanding the highway from four lanes to six lanes over 12.4 miles, replacing four aging bridges, and widening two additional bridges. In addition to the roadway and bridge improvements, extensive drainage systems, including ponds, special ditches, and extended box culverts, were implemented to ensure proper stormwater management.
The project’s maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan minimized disruptions while keeping the roadway operational during construction. The improvements provide a safer, more efficient route for Florida’s growing population, enhancing both travel and infrastructure longevity.
